Six Simple Steps on Office Moving Day

Six Simple Steps on Office Moving DaySix Simple Steps on Office Moving Day

There are six simple steps to follow on the day of your move which will help your moving day go smoothly.

Step 1

Your office representative needs to review your moving objectives with

your Utah moving crew when they arrive. It is best to walk through your office

with them before the moving begins.

Step 2

Your movers will place the furniture and boxes in their proper offices when they reach your new office. Therefore, to expedite this process, be sure all items and office are clearly marked ahead of time.

Step 3

Remember to disconnect appliances, remove fixtures and take down pictures. Any other items which are taken apart by your Utah movers at the origin will be reassembled at the destination. However, movers will not reconnect appliances, attach fixtures or hang pictures.

Step 4

Before your movers leave the loading address, please walk through your office to be sure nothing has been forgotten.

Step 5

As your movers unload your office goods, they will assist you in placing desks, cabinets, bookcases, and other furniture pieces in their correct location. Please be available to direct them.

Step 6

After your shipment is completely unloaded, be sure you acknowledge delivery and the condition of your goods on your invoice. It is best to have an

agent from your company inspect the inside of the moving truck(s) for any

items which may have been over looked.

Follow these steps and your Utah movers will do the rest to insure your office is moved in a timely and efficient manner.

When is the Best Time to Move? When is the Best Time to Move?

Moving can be stressful no matter when you are moving.  However, if given a choice, there are better times than others to move.

Utah movers gear up for the busiest times of the year to move. So with a little bit of planning and organizing, you can reserve the day and time you need to move.

1)   The busiest day of the month to move is Saturday. If you need to move on this day, schedule your move 2 weeks in advance if possible.

2)   The last week of a month is the busiest week to move. People need to move before their rent and lease come due; schedule for this time period at least 2 weeks ahead.

3)   May through August are busy times to move. Plan ahead if you need to move during the summer.

4)   Holidays can be a busy time for people to move. Again, schedule in advance if you want to move during a holiday break.

There are times that are less hectic for moving.  Sometimes you can even get a better deal when scheduling for these time periods.

1)   January and February are always the slowest months for moving.  It’s cold outside and people just don’t like to relocate during the winter. So consider moving during the winter.

2)   Middle of the month, as long as it’s not during the summer, is a good time to move.  The rush is always for the end of the month, so if you can move during the middle of the month, you won’t have to schedule so far in advance.

3)   Always try to move first thing in the morning. If you can arrange your schedule to have a morning appointment that is the best way to go. You’ll get a fresh crew and you won’t have to worry about your crew running late if your appointment follows someone else.

4)   Same day appointments are often available if you need to move at the last minute.

Just a few ideas to keep in mind if you are scheduling an upcoming move!

Your Utah movers move year round so you should be able to move whenever is convenient for you.

How Much Do Moving Boxes Cost?   How Much Do Moving Boxes Cost?

If you are planning to move, you will need moving boxes and probably a lot of them! Boxes and packing materials can be purchased from your Utah Movers.

The boxes needed and their cost will depend on what you are packing. It’s best to take an inventory of your home or office and with the help of the following chart you can easily determine what boxes you will need for your packing job.

Different companies charge different rates for boxes. Typically, it is best to purchase your boxes from the company who is moving you. These boxes have more strength and can withstand crushing. Some moving companies can give you a quantity discount, a free box delivery, or a refund when boxes are returned after your move. Retail stores don’t offer these services.

The following table is a guide for organizing the boxes you will need for your move:

TYPE OF BOX SIZE OF BOX WHAT ITEMS TO PACK
Book Box  16x12x12 books, files, tools & desk items
Medium Box  18x18x16 small appliances, dishes & heavy pots and pans
Large Box  24x18x18 linens, clothes, tupperware, display items & decorations
X-Large Box  24x18x24 pillows,quilts, toys & large decorations
Dish Packs  18x18x28 china, crystal, figurines
Cell Dividers dividers for dish packs to keep breakables separated
Mirror/Picture Box  36x30x4 pictures and mirrors
Wardrobe Box  24x24x48 hanging clothes
Packing Paper provide cushioning inside of boxes & protection for breakables
Packing Tape tape for boxes
Twin, Full, Q/K Mattress mattress protection
Bubble Wrap Wrap breakables
Plastic Wrap Wrap upholstered and leather furniture & mattresses

Remember boxes can be flattened, so unless you plan on storing items long term, stick with boxes instead of totes. Boxes will take up less room before you pack and you can recyle them or return them to your Utah mover when you are done.

Packing can be a big job, but using the right boxes will make the job easier!
